Biography

The Faculty of Mathematics & Informatics was established on 02nd April, 2009.

Training programs

1. Bachelor programs

  • Mathematics
  • Overview
    Students will achieve basic and specialized knowledge of mathematics, including Mathematical Analysis, Algebra and Number Theory, Geometry and Topology, Probability-Statistics and Applied Mathematics.
  • Fulltime: 4 years (8 semesters)
  • Total credit: 135 credits
  • Training Result
    After graduation, students will be able to:

- Do research in different fields of mathematics at research institutes, centers, universities;

- Work in state administrative agencies, production and business establishments utilizing mathematical knowledge;

- Teach mathematics at vocational training schools, and high schools;

- Work in specialized fields that require the use of mathematical tools such as finance, banking, accounting, post, telecommunications, securities, statistics, etc.

- Study at higher level to get postgraduate degrees in corresponding disciplines or transferring to relevant disciplines;

- In addition, bachelor of science in Mathematics can have access to work in other fields such as management, accounting, finance and banking.

  • Applied Mathematics, Applied Maths - Informatics
  • Overview
    Students will have full understandings of concepts, theory, properties, basic problems of mathematics and the ability to apply knowledge into practical problems; comprehend the concepts, models, basic problems of Informatics and to apply knowledge to solve practical problems.
  • Fulltime: 4 years (8 semesters)
  • Total credit: 135 credits
  • Training Result
    After graduation, students will be able to:

- Work at research institutes, management agencies, production and business establishments utilizing applied mathematics and informatics; or work as IT technicians, software developers, or system designers and analyzers;

- Teach mathematics, informatics in vocational training schools, IT education centers, and high schools.

2. Master's programs

  • Applied Mathematics
  • Overview
    Students will master the specialized knowledge of applied mathematics, be capable of solving practical problems using the obtained knowledge; own critical thinking skills, self-study ability, professional study to acquire new knowledge and at the Ph.D. level major in Applied Mathematics; have general knowledge of law and society.
  • Fulltime: 2 years (4 semesters)
  • Total credit: 60 credits
  • Training Result
    Graduates will be able to:

- Teach modules of knowledge related to applied mathematics at universities, colleges, and mathematics at  vocational training schools, or high schools.

- Work at research institutes, state offices, companies, enterprises, etc.

- Become PhD students.

  • Elementary Mathematical Methods
  • Overview
    Students will be able to master the specialized knowledge of elementary mathematics methods; solve mathematical problems derived from elementary mathematics teaching through advanced mathematical knowledge acquired; develop critical thinking, self-study and in-depth research skills to acquire new knowledge for the doctoral level with major in didactics of mathematics; achieve general knowledge of law and society.
  • Fulltime: 2 years (4 semesters)
  • Total credit: 60 credits
  • Training Result
    Graduates will be able to:

- Teach modules of knowledge related to elementary mathematics at universities and colleges of pedagogy,  mathematics at high schools and vocational training schools.

- Work at educational research institutes, education departments.

3. Doctoral programs

  • Algebra and Number Theory
  • Overview
    Candidates will acquire advanced, modern and comprehensive knowledge of algebra and number theory; master core values in academic studying , and algebra and number theory in particular; be able to develop new principles and theories; have general knowledge of law, organizational thinking about professional work.
  • Training Period: 3 - 4 years
  • Training Result:

- Teaching modules of knowledge related to algebra and number theory at universities, colleges of pedagogy.

- Working at research institutes of mathematics or other academic organizations.

- Doing postdoctoral research to prepare for getting professorship.

  • Applied Mathematics
  • Overview
    Candidates will be equipped with a system of advanced and comprehensive knowledge of applied mathematics; be able to do independent and creative research; master core values in academic studying; develop principles and theories of applied mathematics; have general knowledge of law, organization, management, and environmental conservation; promote new ideas in organizing professional work and research to solve complex problems in practice.
  • Training Period: 3 - 4 years
  • Training Result

- Teaching modules of knowledge related to applied mathematics at universities, colleges.

- Working at research institutes of mathematics or other academic organizations.

- Doing postdoctoral research to prepare for getting professorship.

The faculty members have implemented state-funded 3 projects, ministry-funded 10 projects, 19 university-funded projects and many other smaller ones.

In the period 2011 - 2019: the faculty members have published 120 papers in the SCI, SCIE, SCOPUS and other international/domestic journals.
