On January, 10-11, 2024, a two-day workshop held within the framework of the project "Future-Oriented Chemistry (FOREST)" 619116-EPP-1- 2020-1-SE-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP Capacity Building in Higher Education Erasmus+ program took place at Thai Nguyen University of Sciences (TNUS), Thai Nguyen City, Viet Nam. It was organized by the University of Catania (UNICT), Catania, Italy and hosted by the Thai Nguyen University of Sciences (TNUS). Scientist and lecturers coming from FOREST partners
This workshop held within the framework of the FOREST project proved to be an enlightening and forward-thinking event. The workshop brought together a diverse group of professionals, researchers, and entrepreneurs, fostering an environment conducive to robust discussions and collaboration.
The presentations at the workshop included:
1. Presentation of the workshop’s objectives and expected learning outcomes: Scaling climate action through technology and innovation in chemical sciences
2. “About Green and Sustainable Chemistry” presented by Prof. Cristina Satriano - UNICT.
3. “Why do chemicals and pollution actions matter?” presented by Prof. Cosimo G. Fortuna - UNICT
4. “The Climate Change Knowledge Portal.” presented by Prof. Cristina Satriano and Prof. Cosimo G. Fortuna - UNICT
5. “Demonstration of greenhouse gas (GHG) Accounting toolkit” by presented Prof. Cosimo G. Fortuna - UNICT
6. “Demonstration of Climate Change Screening and Opportunity Toolkit” presented by Prof. Cristina Satriano - UNICT
7. “Demonstration of Guideline for Mainstreaming Climate Action into Lines of Credit” presented by Prof. Cosimo G. Fortuna - UNICT
8. “Energizing entrepreneurs to tackle climate change: addressing climate change through innovation” presented by Prof. Cristina Satriano - UNICT
9. “Capacity building for climate action and ambition: what have we learned?” discussed by all participants.
A key strength of the workshop was the emphasis on collaboration and business partnerships. Through interactive sessions, participants had the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions, network, and explore potential collaborations. The connections made during the workshop are likely to catalyze future projects that align with the goals of the FOREST project.
The workshop succeeded not only in disseminating knowledge but also in inspiring participants to think creatively and act proactively in the face of climate change challenges. The integration of chemical solutions, entrepreneurship, and business partnerships within the FOREST project framework provided a holistic approach to addressing the multifaceted aspects of the climate crisis.
In conclusion, the "Chemical Solutions to Meet Climate Change, Entrepreneurship, and Business Partnerships" workshop was a commendable initiative within the FOREST project. It effectively bridged the gap between scientific research, entrepreneurial endeavours, and collaborative partnerships, fostering a sense of urgency and optimism in the quest for sustainable solutions to climate change.
