On the afternoon of January 13, 2020, University of Sciences - Thai Nguyen University held a Tet meeting and wishing to foreign students studying at the University on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2020. Attending the meeting, there were Assoc. Prof. Pham Thi Phuong Thai, Ph.D. - Vice Rector of the University, representatives of the functional departments, faculties/subjects, homeroom teachers and all Lao and Chinese international students studying at the University.
This is an annual activity organized by the University to summarize the work of international student training in 2019 and also an opportunity for students to meet, exchange and contribute to tightening the friendship between Vietnamese and international friends.
Addressing at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Pham Thi Phuong Thai, Ph.D. - Vice Rector of the University sent congratulations on the occasion of the New Year 2020 to foreign students studying and researching at the University. She wished international students a warm and memorable holiday with family and relatives. She affirmed that the University has been and will always be there to support students in their study and in life. She wished that the students will not only study and practice well but also remember the TNUS with warm feelings, attachment and sincerity.
In 2019, Thai Nguyen University of Sciences received 76 international students, learners and research students to study and research. Currently, the University is training 54 Lao students and Chinese students studying undergraduate programs and 02 students from Laos and China studying master programs.
On behalf of the University, Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation, Department of Training, the Department of Students’ Affairs also summarized the training, academic situation, financial work, immigration management, visa extension, and health care for international students at dormitories in 2019. The University recognizes the efforts and appreciates the achievements of international students during the past time.
The ceremony was also an opportunity for teachers of Thai Nguyen University of Science to listen, share and understand more about the emotional feelings, as well as the aspirations of international students from countries around the world studying at the University. On behalf of the international students attending the program, Phongsavanh BOUDSALATH - student of Science and Technology course K14 extended sincere thanks to the University's lecturers. He also said that he was always enthusiastically supported in learning as well as in life. On the occasion of the lunar New Year 2020 approaching, on behalf of the LHS, Phongsavanh extended New Year greetings and gave gifts to the University Board of Trustees.
Another very important part of the ceremony, international students were introduced the meaning and customs of traditional Vietnamese New Year. Lunar New Year, also known as Traditional Tet, New Year, etc. is the largest and most important celebration of the Vietnamese nation, in harmony with the Lunar New Year culture of Eastern countries. This is considered the funniest, busiest and warmest time in a year. Because the Lunar New Year is an important occasion for the beginning, with so many beliefs, luck, and sincere wishes and prayers, the Lunar New Year has a lot of humane and profound meanings more than other holidays of the year.
In the joyful atmosphere, the international students and Vietnamese students gave the ceremony a lively atmosphere with improvisation and colorful performances.
On this occasion, the University offered gifts of encouragement and best wishes to international students. In the joy of Tet holiday, Thai Nguyen University of Sciences hopes, believes and wishes all international students will achieve higher learning and training results in the coming time.
