Farewell to a Taiwanese intern who has passion for Vietnamese culture studies

Having passion for studying about the Ngai ethnic group and their cultural characteristics in Vietnam, Hsu Jun Wen (Tu Tuan Van), University of Politics, Taiwan chose University of Sciences - Thai Nguyen University as his internship destination from September 19, 2019 to December 31, 2019. Here, under the enthusiastic guidance of Assoc. Prof. Pham Thi Phuong Thai, Ph.D. - Vice Rector, Hsu Jun Wen successfully studied the topic “Cultural transformations of the Ngai people in Vietnam”. Right from the first days to Thai Nguyen University of Sciences, Hsu Jun Wen showed his special enthusiasm and passion for Vietnamese culture.

At the final report session held on the morning of December 27, 2019, Assoc. Prof. Pham Thi Phuong Thai, Ph.D. praised the student for his efforts and results after nearly 3 months of research. Hsu Jun Wen is considered a young student with research capacity, strong passion and ability to use Vietnamese fluently. Hsu Jun Wen took the initiative to seize opportunities to conduct field surveys, conduct many in-depth interviews in Dai Tu and Dong Hy districts of Thai Nguyen province; Phu Thong town, Bach Thong district, Bac Kan province; Bang Khau commune, Ngan Son district, Cao Bang province; Luc Nam and Luc Ngan districts, Bac Giang province.

Although in a very short period of time, Hsu Jun Wen gained a lot of results and made valuable findings, such as: on the migration process and the formation of the Ngai ethnic group in Vietnam; discovery of cultural crossings with many similarities between the Ngai and San Diu ethnic groups, etc.
